Norse Midsummer Rituals

Norse Midsummer Rituals

Midsummer is usually celebrated near the Summer Solstice, around June 21st. Historically, bonfires were common for this time, and people would both dance around them and sometimes even through them, though it was usually the cattle which were driven through the fires as a purification measure. Like Maitag, this high day is often associated with love and fertility.
