Dear Fellow Floridian Druids and anyone else in the path of Harvey,

As the storm grows nearer, the tension is mounting for many in our local
communities of friends and families. Many of us will not meet the threat of
the storm unprepared. We have evacuation plans in place, supplies on hand,
alternate sources of power like batteries and alternators. Some of us may
be unable to prepare adequately so we look to other resources. One of our
most important resources is each other. When I first joined ADF, there was
something like 10 members in Florida. Now there are many more. Regardless
of personal ideologies, this fellowship is a common ground where we can all
meet.

This hurricane has many people frightened. As Druids, we draw inspiration
from our myths, and there are myths of heroes and gods facing incredible
enemies, from Cu Chulain taking on an entire army to Indra facing a mighty
dragon holding back the sacred waters. I also encourage you to draw
inspiration and courage from your ancestors. For myself, I recall the
Druids on Yns Mon, facing the Roman Legion as they approached across the
Menai Strait. Even though the Romans destroyed the sacred groves, the flame
of Druidry still burned bright.

Throughout this threat, my candle shall remain lit with the flame of hope,
and courage, and perseverance. Our common ground shall be home to a common
flame of strength. May we all have the strength to face the uncertainty,
and the perseverance to rise beyond it.

If you feel isolated and need someone local to talk with, or if anyone
feels the need to have someone they can reach out to who is also facing
this storm, I am here for you.

May the Kindreds be with all of us,

Amber A Cannon

If anyone finds themselves in the Augusta area of GA, feel free to reach out to me. We are as prepared as one can be, and are expecting damaging winds & possible flooding. Just remember, you are not alone. Fellow druids, ancestors, and other Earth-based spirituality folks are with you.Namaste.Morning Star

Greetings Morning Star and the rest of the Southeast,

I was very happy to wake up a while ago and see the storm downgraded. May
you and everyone else still in it's path remain safe.

I am in the Tampa Bay area and if anyone needs to reach out following this
long night, please don't hesitate to do so.

May the Kindreds be with you all,

Amber A Cannon
