Thingstide Rituals

Thingstide, also known as Hlafmaest, was the first harvest of the year. It corresponds to the Celtic high day of Lughnasadh or Lammas, and is associated with the general concept of harvest, so that loaves of bread are often baked and shared at a grove's ritual. In ancient times it would also have been when the main "Thing" (Norse meeting of the people) would occur, where important community matters would be decided. Similarly, many groves have competitions, festivals, and games on this high day.
