[22:18] [Owlhawk] good. yourslf?aesclpious guid your healing [22:18] Thank you [22:19] [Owlhawk] np, concentrateon healing [22:20] I’m currently trying to work out plans for Samhain, and hoping there will be sufficient people to take care of all the physical demand I can’t do this year. I suck at asking for help. This is becoming a humbling experience. [22:21] [Owlhawk] there's a lesson inthat sp,ewhere [22:21] hello Dale. Yes, wishing you hard-working people and cells. [22:22] Sharing the load is a healthy part of a group and a community. here's hoping your community comes through. [22:23] They will, I just have to remember to ask for help, rather than just over doing things...and have a plan so that when people ask to help, I can let them. [22:24] Has anybody here worked with the Irish Macha? [22:24] A plan is a good idea. [22:24] She has been the Being of the Occasion for us a couple of times. [22:32] We’ve come up with a release/recovery theme (releasing specific negative things to allow for recovery/healing) for a working aspect to our Samhain rite. I was considering having An Morrígan for the DotO, but some others thought she was a bit too edgy, let’s say :D. I’ve been on the receiving end of some lessons from her, and while harsh at times, I thought she could be an asset to the work, but I understand the other’s hesitations. Macha, who is [22:32] sometimes seen as one of the Morrigu, is also a sovereignty goddess, with links to war. I wonder if she might help us, but with a smoother road than An Morrígan would show us. [22:34] Or might somebody know of an Irish Deity that might be appropriate to build a relationship with for that work, and still fit a Samhain theme? [22:38] [Owlhawk] I've always seen Samhain as being about the ancestors and th e honoured dead [22:39] It's a transitional time, though, the new year, etc. Death is just one aspect of that theme to me. [22:40] Macha, who cursed all of Ireland to be weakest when they need to be strong? I don't know if I would call her less "edgy" than the Morrigan. I'm not sure she's a let the negative out to heal kind of Lady, either. More of a pay the piper the hard way sort. [22:40] Typically that’s what we have done, but one of the Protogrove’s Members found a ritual that Ian Corrigan wroteThat linked Samhain to that type of theme. The rest of the group liked that and so that is what we will be working on, in addition to honor in the ancestors during the main part of the ritual. [22:42] We've called on Crom Cruach on occasion as a bearer of burdens, one who can carry dark things away. [22:43] Editing my own terminology, say rather grim or unwelcome instead of 'dark'. [22:43] But I wouldn't call it a 'relationship' as much as a paid service. And not on Samhain, to my knowledge. [22:47] I don’t know much about him save something about people prostrating themselves to him at Samhain and the act of prostration being so forceful that 3/4 of them died. Oh, and his unflattering reference in the animated movie “The Secret of Kells”...which doesn’t count for anything more than an aside. [22:49] Some of that, I could call negative propaganda. But he's not exactly friendly. Cthonic, absolutely. Not to be bothered lightly. [22:49] But I see that as the effect of difficult and generally thankless work. [22:50] *nods* you’ve given me someone else to investigate. [22:50] I'm sorry ;) [22:51] No, that’s a good thing, I just need to make a decision early enough to do prep work [22:52] Mostly joking. The truth I see in the story you mention is that he could definitely do some damage if provoked unwisely, including by annoying fanatics. [22:53] Sort of like a crude mugger trying to call on Kali to bless his violence. *whump* [22:54] lol [22:55] I’m not sure we’re looking to transfer the burden to someone, but to overcome our burden so we can heal the damage they caused. [22:56] I may have misunderstood the sentiment you expressed in your working with crom cruich [22:59] It's generally to hold or carry away what we can't handle, either something recognized as unhealthy or else a burden that needs to be relieved to function. [23:00] The assumption is that if we keep repeating mistakes (collecting the same garbage), the work is useless anyway; or if it's an inevitable burden (like a chronic illness), it's just a temporary reprieve to try and reach a better place to cope. [23:00] Ah, ok, I can see that. [23:01] Believe me, I imagine he'd be annoyed if we were just saying "here, you deal with this." or "give it to somebody else" [23:02] He's bent over because he actually carries the weight of what must be. [23:02] I bet. [23:04] I'll grant that's a somewhat romantic interpretation. But you know, human. [23:04] I can see the symbolic sense to it. [23:10] I’m headed off to bed. That’s for the discussion! Have a good evening. [23:14] likewise, time to sleep. You're welcome!
