[20:07] Before leaving I promised to join the local temp agency for when my replacement had her knee surgery [20:07] She had it today so I worked 3.5 hrs today [20:07] [Owlhawk] lmao [20:11] At least I set my own hours and only work as much as needed to keep the essentials programs afloat [20:11] I don't get my first pension check until Jan 31st so the temp weekly checks will fill in the gaps [20:11] *** TrentDirenna (Mibbit@sorcery-oaru1r.ca.charter.com) has joined #adf [20:12] good evening [20:12] Hello Trent! [20:25] Excellent [20:25] Great! I am happy to hear it. [20:25] [Owlhawk] it was a good vacation [20:25] Have you seen Nick's video for the up coming Druid Moon Cast? [20:25] [Owlhawk] not yet [20:25] Oh I bet Owlhawk. [20:26] Oh it is amazing. I am hoping to pick up some clay at the end of the week to make my Earth Mother talisman. It is such a nifty idea. He really did a good job. [20:27] [Owlhawk] I'll try and remember to watch it tomorrow after my morning run [20:28] :) Sounds like a plan. [20:28] So what has everyone been working on? [20:28] didn't do much for Yule per se [20:29] Trent, that is ok. Some of the more meaningful rituals, for me, has been those laced with hot cider and good meditation. [20:29] [Owlhawk] I've often thought of Yule as family time [20:30] I like spending the holidays with family. I try and plan my ritual service days before the actual solstice so that I can have the day of free to spend time laughing and smiling with those I love. [20:32] yeah, we basically just did christmas really [20:32] Good plan, Melitta. [20:42] I have been dying to see it. [20:43] [Owlhawk] And I am proud tto say that I have seen every Star Wars film in the theater, on the first release@ [20:43] *** Thexalon (Mibbit@sorcery-asgr02.res.rr.com) has joined #adf [20:43] [Owlhawk] ! [20:43] [Owlhawk] Hello! [20:43] In the immortal words of a TV commercial, wazzuuuuup? [20:44] [Owlhawk] Star Wars and what we did for Yule [20:44] Well, don't know a thing about Star Wars really, but my Grove's Yule was really quite lovely. [20:44] I miss those little lizards... or was it the frogs... oh lord I have forgotten [20:45] Which Grove is the name of your Grove Thexalon? [20:45] Stone Creed. [20:46] Nice. Stone Creed has served as a source on inspiration for me and others in my area. [20:47] Well, a lot of our popularity stems from that Ian Corrigan dude. But we do have some other members who've done cool stuff. [20:47] [Owlhawk] Ian who? :) [20:47] The big challenge for our Yule, which we rose to the occasion for, was singing the various English countryside wassailing songs that Ian loves so very much. [20:47] Oh definitely. From what I hear there is this amazing bard named Thexalon... However, I could be wrong :) [20:48] Hey, I no longer have the necklace that says I'm awesome - it's Jan Avende's now.\ [20:50] But in the category of awesome Stone Creed folk, Sue Parker is absolutely amazing, especially when it comes to Brighid-focused work. [20:50] I think there is enough room in ADF for the title amazing. However, yes, Jan is pretty awesome. All I have to say is- The Moose Song. LOL. I heard that during the Advanced Study Retreat and it was epic! [20:51] Yes, Sue is pretty amazing too. How is the new nemoton(*)? [20:51] *** Lonnie (Mibbit@sorcery-pr0221.client.mchsi.com) has quit IRC [Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client] [20:52] Being somewhat of a solitary I cling to what online presence there is through social media and other avenues. It is so odd sometimes being able to talk with others in our community because I feel like a stalker. I try and map out our membership and the activities going on in their areas. I feel like it keeps me connected to everyone. [20:52] Absolutely fantastic to work in. It's now very much established as our summer site: our first ritual there was a fall equinox based on the Eleusinian Mysteries back in fall of 2014. [20:53] And this is semi-public already: Come to Wellspring 2016 and you'll get a chance to experience it. [20:53] I hope to make it. I still have yet to make it to any festivals but I am hoping to one day. [20:54] [Owlhawk] Unfortunately I had to have vacation requests in by Oct 1, so Wellsprings is out for this year [20:55] I have been practicing all of the sheet music for ritual chants on my ocarina so that maybe I will be able to play along with our rituals. [20:55] That would definitely be a different sound! [20:55] I love it. It is a 12 hole tenor tuned in C [20:56] I'm a big fan of expanding our overall instrumentation. [20:56] I have been able to lead people in my area through our ritual chants by playing through it first. [20:57] Well I am wind instrumentalist at heart. I played clarinet for years and as an adult I found a burning passion for ocarina. It is lovely. Some morning I play a melody or two at dawn. [20:59] Wellspring is always (US) Memorial Day weekend, and from here on out will be in Madison OH at our grove site. [21:00] My protogrove is distinctively unmusical even with a bucket [21:00] [Owlhawk] I'll msg you in Sept when it's time to submit my vacation to remind me of that! [21:01] Rovena, that made me shoot almond milk out of my nose lol. [21:01] In our pre-ritual briefing, we have a clear message to those who are distinctly unmusical: Go right ahead and sing anyways! [21:01] [Owlhawk] lol [21:02] That is how we are. I try to stress to everyone that we are here to have fun. [21:04] Well, have fun and honor the Kindreds, of course. Which is fun, but also serious. [21:04] Our rituals tend to be 4 or 5 people so people are very self-conscious. We definitely have fun though. [21:04] Right. There is a healthy balance of being serious and having fun. [21:06] I tell people that I am serious about my faith but seldom solemn. [21:06] Yeah, I admit I live in luxury with my grove (about 15 official members, and another 15 or so regulars and 20-30 occasionals) [21:08] [Owlhawk] if we are not counting cats in the attendance figures, then my attendance stands at one. [21:09] I do not belong to a Grove or a PG, but it is in the works. However, each public ritual that I have hosted has had 15+ people with 23 being the most in attendance. I am hoping that these numbers stay up. [21:09] Been there many times [21:10] That's a pretty solid group. Keep up the good work! [21:10] Yeah me too. Figuring out ADF Core solo is something. It took me a year before I could even wrap my head around everything but four years in and I love the structure of our org. [21:11] There are six of us that are at every HD. Tomorrow is our first Lore Night and in two weeks I am hosing a Full Moon ritual. I am hoping to offer several events a month to people in this area in order to build a real presence here. [21:11] If it makes you feel better, our Senior Druid has been an ADF member for over a decade and just this year submitted his DP materials. [21:12] [Owlhawk] lol3 [21:12] Oh, a person like myself [21:12] Yay! Good for him. I am hoping to have my IP submitted in a year or two... LOL [21:13] I'm actually rather proud of my grove, because we had 4 people get as far as submitting their DP work in 2015, and at least 2 of them are now approved. [21:14] Thats amazing. Congratulations... to them that is. [21:15] The result of a lot of people making possibly-rash oaths at Yule a year ago. [21:15] [Owlhawk] never a good idea! [21:16] That is what I was thinking Owlhawk. [21:16] There is one thing that I had to learn the hard way- Make an Oath and the universe will turn upside down and still expect you to hold true to your vow. [21:17] [Owlhawk] yup. people constantly underestimate the power behind an oath [21:17] [Owlhawk] . [21:17] That's why I paced myself, and actually oathed to do less than I thought I was likely to actually manage. [21:17] Oaths must be carefully worded [21:17] [Owlhawk] lol [21:17] It is a tough lesson. However, I also feel that it is a very powerful lesson to learn. It makes me value the weight and value of my word and commitments. [21:17] That is a good plan Thexalon [21:18] Valuing the weight of words and commitments is of course a big part of what integrity is all about. I think I had to write an essay about that once ... [21:18] Rovena, that is no joke. LOL. My Dedicants Oath took me months to write. [21:18] [Owlhawk] lol [21:19] My was over a year in the tweaking process [21:21] I bet that a tedious process. [21:21] That is why I have decided to take my time with the IP. [21:23] Because, to me, Initiation like oathing is something that takes time and care when undergoing and I do not want to rush into something without taking the time to prepare for and dedicate myself to the work [21:24] True, very true [21:30] Ok, well everyone I am going to call it a night and hop off of here. I hope that you all have a wonderful night and I will chat with you later.
